Hi, Readers. This is an older post that we have archived, so some of the information about our company may be out of date. You can find our latest blog posts at harvestmedia.com/blog. Thanks!
This is the second in a series of posts about a logo redesign for Bethel Baptist Church. You can read the first one here.
The next phase of our project was to create a piece of artwork to communicate Bethel’s four core values.
The pastors at Bethel had distilled the ministry philosophy down to four succinct words and phrases. It was their burden to keep these four values visible, as a constant reminder to the church of its purpose and mission. As I’m sure many of our readers know, it’s easy to get distracted from the most important things in the frantic pace of day-to-day ministry.
Connecting the four values to a piece of art not only has mnemonic value, but also sets the appropriate mood for the reader. Think of graphic design as the tone of voice to the words on the page (or screen). It’s not just what you say that matters—it’s how you say it.
Because each of the four values were equally important, we chose to arrange them in a way that didn’t show a clear hierarchy between one or another. We then created an icon and picked a supporting color for each.
After the art was finished, the values were posted on signs throughout the building, and on print material such as the church bulletin. We’ve included a few photos of the result below.
