FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the design process take?

We average 4 to 8 business days to create a first draft for most of our print projects. From that point, feedback and revisions can take anywhere from 2 to 14 days, depending on how many changes you feel are necessary. Once your final proof is approved, printing will be completed within 7 to 10 business days, and your materials will be on their way.

As you plan for your next printed project, make it your goal to begin at least one month before your deadline. If you have a project that needs to be turned around very quickly, please note that you may incur some rush charges.

Website development times will vary, but the average length of a typical site project is one month. We follow a methodical, step by step process, to make sure that we build the site that is right for you. Learn more about Harvest Media websites.

How do we handle payments?

We request a 25-50% deposit before we begin work on a new project. We've found that our clients take their projects more seriously when they make an investment in it from the beginning.

The remaining cost will be invoiced to you after your project is complete. Your payment within 30 days of an invoice is kindly appreciated.

If you decide to terminate a project before it is complete, your deposit will not be refunded. However, you may return to your project at any time in the future, and we will credit your deposit to the final invoice.

Are there any extra costs in addition to your standard pricing?

Shipping is not included in our standard pricing. There are a few situations, though they happen rarely, that cause a project to exceed our standard pricing.

  • If we need to turn around a job in a very short amount of time, you may incur rush charges on the design and printing as well as more expensive shipping.
  • If your print project requires special folding, binding, or finishing processes, those costs will be charged in addition to your standard pricing.
  • If we are unable to satisfy your design ideas after three unique versions, you may incur some additional design charges, though this is a rare situation. Our standard prices are based on the average amount of design time for a project of that type.

Can I design my own brochure and have Harvest Media print it?

We're afraid not. Because of the complexity involved in the printing process, we don't accept print-only jobs from client supplied artwork. We occasionally make exceptions to this policy if the client is an industry professional.

Can I start with a design that I saw on your site and customize it for my church?

Yes! Unlike a lot of other companies, we do not pre-print any of our material; every project that we take on is tailor-made. We understand that each ministry is unique, and we have set up our production process to suit your needs. Every photo and every word can be completely customized. The designs we show on our web site are there to spark your imagination.

Can I use pictures I have taken of my church in my brochure?

Yes! There are some benefits to including photos of your members or your pastor in your church brochure. It can give your brochure a personal touch that's hard to reproduce with stock photography. However, ask yourself a couple of questions first:

  • Do I have the equipment and ability necessary to take high quality photos?
  • What happens if the members in these pictures move away?

Make sure that the people found in every picture have given you their permission to use them as a model in your brochure. It's good practice to have them sign a model release. Harvest Media assumes no responsibility for photos used by a ministry in their literature.

We recommend taking photos with a digital camera. If you have just a few photos, you can e-mail them to us, or send them from the Upload Files page. We will be happy to scan any printed photos that you would like to include in your project. However, please be sure that you have permission to use any photo prints that you didn't take yourself.

In addition, we keep a large archive of royalty-free stock photos that are available to use in your project at no additional cost.

Can we order fewer than 1,000 brochures?

We're afraid not. Because of the custom nature of each project, and in order to keep the price per piece as reasonable as possible, we cannot print fewer than 1,000 pieces at a time.

We're a church plant and cannot afford your services. Do you offer any discounts that apply to us?

Yes! Take a look at our pricing for church plants (PDF) and see if you would qualify.
